Fun monday~ Inquiring Minds Want to Know

The lovely and extremely talented Lisa of Lisa's Chaos is our hotstess this week. I love the ideas she came up with!

What is one thing you would like to ask your readers? Come up with a question to pose to your visitors and throw it out there on Monday. As we’re all visiting each other’s Fun Monday posts we should answer the various questions we come across.ORShow&Tell me about a bird, I’m easily made happy.

Although I love birds, I have chosen to ask a question of you FM players...

Do you believe in extraterrestrial beings, aka... aliens?
Do you think, as does former astronaut Edgar Mitchell, that aliens have been here for years, right under our noses?

I thought it would be fun to here everyone's thoughts on this. I am one that tends to believe things until proved otherwise; therefore, sure, I believe in aliens. Have they been among us? Who knows! Could be... I have always thought it would be pretty presumptuous to believe that the only life in this infinite universe of ours is here on Earth.

Now, who's to say that the other life forms are more intelligent? They could be slugs for all we know. They could be peaceful. Or they could be like the aliens we have all come to know and love (?):

The SETI Institute is a real place that is devoted to searching the universe for signs of life. Below is a picture of some of their receivers. It's a pretty interesting website, if you "want to believe".

The truth is out there, and so are LOTS of other Fun Monday entries to read! So head over to Lisa's place and check 'em all out.

Have a great week!

Great question, I believe that life exists other places in the universe. I do not think that the outer space creatures have made it to Earth yet.

Excellent question. I do believe that life exists outside of earth. I love the movie Contact for exploring the possibility.

I do believe my first husband was an alien... he was born in Roswell, NM in 1952.

All joking aside, like you, I believe it is presumptious to think we are the only intelligent life in the universe. Other than my first husband though, I couldn't say whether or not they are here on Earth.

The thought of aliens makes my skin crawl...I am not sure why. I am sure they are out there and they are probably laughing at us or pitying us.

Sure I believe, we used to run the SETI thing on our computers all the time.

I believe there has to be more life, out there somewhere.

Yes....I've actually seen an alien. Several of them. Oh wait, you've also added extra-terrestrial tho, well that's a whole 'nother story.

I think we have been encountered by them, yes...just look at Congress in session.

Seriously tho, yes, I Do. I do believe.

Now come on over and answer my FM Question

I agree totally with your statement, 'I have always thought it would be pretty presumptuous to believe that the only life in this infinite universe of ours is here on Earth.'. I feel the same. To believe that we are all there is is kind of arrogant and very blinkered. I believe there is stuff we don't know about yet and I believe there is other life out there. Great question.

Yes i believe in aliens and they are called my in-laws. :0)

as to whether I believe or not, in aliens, witches, mediums, etc. I believe it CAN happen, but I don't believe it HAS happened. Does that make sense, through God all things are possible, so why rule it out, but I don't believe that green men have taken over congress anyway, unless you count jealousy!

If I say yes I do..they could than think hummm lets go visit her she beleives...
If I say no..than I have no fear they will come to visit me....hummmmmmmm

Good pics..I hated that alien movie to darn scary!!

That's a good question. I'm a believer~ why should we be the only living creatures in the universe. How and when we meet up is another question!

I do think it's totally possible that there are other intelligent beings in the universe. I just have a hard time believing that they would hang out here. I mean surely this can't be one of the best vacation spots in the universe with the diseases, the wars, etc. Although we do have pretty cool beaches. I mean why would they want to be here..unless we are a science experiment? Oh, wow! What if the aliens are using us as a field trip? What if college student aliens are using us as their subjects for a passing/failing grade in anthropology? What if they are the ones doing this? That would totally explain Pres. Bush, wouldn't it? Now I feel slightly paranoid.

Although I would love living next door to The Coneheads, I can only pretend life is interesting in that way.

I totally believe in aliens - the universe is so huge that it would be very presumptuous of us to assume we were the only life out there. Even religious people have to admit that God could have made other planets.

But, are there aliens here? um...as a Biologist it scares me to think of First Contact because of all the new diseases we would share with each other. Just as in War of the Worlds - the common cold would wipe them or us out.

I think it's a bit ignorant of us to think we might be the only living life forms out there. Other than that, I'd really have to see one to believe. Not that I'd want to.

Oh, yes...I totally believe in them. Then again, I believe in other dimensions here on earth, and a whole host of other possibilities! However, I do NOT think my beliefs are inconsistent with my faith - b/c God is capable of so much more than we know! I tend to think aliens are highly evolved versions of humans...or at least the big-headed, googly-eyed friendly ones are!

I always knew Sayre and I had a special connection!! My ex was an alien, too!! He swore to me he wouldn't die -- that the space aliens would come and make him King of something... somewhere....

So my husband used to let our PC be used by SETI. They have this thing where you can sign up to let your idle PC be used to analyze data they collect. Then we switched to Mac. But, yeah, we believe!!

Even my two-year-old. If I ask her who broke something or made a mess, she tells me the "A-ya-ya" (alien) did it. Damn a-ya-ya...

I come down on the ‘yes’ side of this question … and perhaps that’s why I got hooked on Star Trek decades ago … and again on the original Star Gate series … though my hope is that if they’re ‘here’ … they’re friendlier than depicted on X-Files ;--)
Hugs and blessings,

I do believe in aliens. Like everyone else I think it's pretty hard to believe that we are the only life forms anywhere. As for them living here, among us? Absolutely. I ask my children all of the time what planet they're from LOL

I think it's possible there are beings other than humans out there (wherever "there" is)... it's not been proven otherwise, as you've said.

To quote a line from Contact "if not there is a lot of wasted space"

Besides if not how else would you explain me to your friends?

Of course there are extra-terrestials. Didn't you see the movie, "ET?" He was a cutie !

Seriously, yes, I believe there are other forms of life in that big universe but not sure they have been here yet. NO WAIT ! My husband's father has to be an alien !

It's just like us expecting the rest of the world to speak--or at least understand--English. Arrogant to assume that we're the only life form in this universe--room for many more. And, like some of the other commentors, I may have encountered them. . .in my own family.

I think it's possible that something exists, but I'm not sure it is human-like necessarily. Maybe there's amoebas or cockroaches out there, and though they're not really intelligent beings, they're living things. I once heard an interesting thought...that maybe aliens that have seen Earth see cars everywhere coming and going and they think that those are the intelligent beings on our planet, rather than the people in the cars.

I do not believe in them, don't you think we would have already met them?
