Swimming in lakes may be very bad for your brain!

Laura over at Vitamin Sea (I am beiong lazy. Her link is listed over there on the right) posted about a brain eating amoeba that lives in warm water pools and lakes and HAS KILLED PEOPLE!

I am completely freaked out because we always go swimming in the lakes up in Highlands County. Now, I'm not so sure about doing it anymore. Most of the people who have died (if not all) have been young boys - early teens! Crazy. And creepy.

Read about it here: BRAIN EATING AMOEBA

Thank you do much, Laura for bringing this to my attention.

If you enjoy swimming than do it.

If I discontinued doing everything that I read...

than I would have to say that I might as well be dead.

Could this be a verse?

I imagine our lakes are too cold but I do not like swimming in water I can't see into anyway. Eek!

That's really scary. We swim in the ponds and lakes up on Eglin reservation quite often. Geez, it seems like everything will kill you now a days.

Just one more reason I prefer salt water. *shudder* That made me think of the old horror movie where some wormy thing got in a guy's ear and ate his brain. Didn't Star Trek steal that idea, as well?

I am a native Floridian and this was an issue here in Palm Beach county in the 70's.
