You can take the GRITS out of Florida, but you can't take Florida out of the GRITS!

This 'n That

Tonight my son and I are going to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I can't wait! I've already read mixed reviews, but I really don't care what anyone says. I love Indy!!

It's getting hot here...the other day, the thermometer in my car (that reads the outside temp, not the inside) said it was 105 degrees! DAMN! And it's only MAY!!!! I cannot imagine what it's going to be like in July or August. The heat is one of the things you just have to deal with living in Florida. I've had people ask me if the heat affects the way I feel because of my disease. It doesn't - Thank God! If the heat caused me serious problems, I'd have to move and that's not something I'm willing to do at the moment.

Congrats again to David Cook for winning American Idol. You could've knocked me over with a feather when his name was announced as the winner. I figured every teeny-bopper in the country would be texting her little fingers off voting for Archie. Finally...finally a rocker has won! I wonder if my 137 votes helped at all?

My lawnmower broke. We called Sears to come fix it. $100 for them to come out, then that money would be applied toward any repairs that may be done. If no repairs, then we eat the $100. Well, we ate the $100. The guy said our mower was so screwed up that it would cost roughly $500 to fix it. Crap. At least the grass hasn't been growing very much with the dry spell we've had. Like Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say, "If it's not one thing, it's another..."
Now I'm debating whether to buy a new mower or check out Craig's List for a decent used one. Grrr....

Oh, and it's only 11 days until the start of hurricane season!

The Weather Channel website has a counter going that shows to the second how long until hurricane season. I took one look at it and decided that I have enough stress in my life and I can't bare (bear sp?) to actually count down the seconds LOL I did go to the grocery store and restock our emergency food supplies and batteries but hubby tells me the wood we use for our windows has warped and we'll need all new this year if we have to board up. That's just great. I think that you and I should do some sort of "no hurricanes this year" ancient indian dance under a full moon one night to ward off any potential storms LOL Between you there and me here it might work LOL
Too bad about the mower. We bought a Murray at Sears about 5 years ago for about $350 and despite being left out in the rain, not having any maintenance done and a lot of abuse it still cranks every time. I hope you find a good deal.

There will be NO 'canes - there will be NO 'canes.

How was the movie? Harrison Ford's still got it, doesn't he? I kinda want to go see it, but am tempted to wait for the DVD. It's been over 10 years (13 maybe) since I've been inside a theatre. I really want to see Expelled, but every time I plan it, something pops up to stop me.

It's been in the 90s up here... maybe higher, haven't kept close tabs... and I am SO not looking forward to actual summer. UGH!

I had hoped to be living somewhere else before H-season this year. Stupid housing market. Being a sitting duck is for the birds. I sure hope God blesses us with another quiet one.

Unfortunately, we didn't go see the movie last night. My..ahem.."babysitter" went AWOL, so we were kind fo stuck. Soo, though. We'll see it soon!

I think today has been the worst yet as far as heat and humidity. It is SO hot and just plain "ugh" outside right now. Walk 10 feet in the sun and break out in a sweat.
