You can take the GRITS out of Florida, but you can't take Florida out of the GRITS!

Finally, an update

Hello World! I'm back!

Now to show that I've been out of the blogging world for a while, I posted every one of the following pictures backwards. Well, not backwards, but in the wrong order. So, you must scroll down to the bottom and read upwards. Weird? Yes. But just do it or it won't make sense...

My writing sucks, but I think the pictures are decent enough. It's amazing how rusty you get when you stop blogging for a while! I'll do my damndest to get back into bloggin at least once a week from now on. For those of you who have stuck with me, I appreciate it!

Two hours and twenty minutes later...hello, Miami!

Good Bye, Pittsburgh... :(

The hike back with wet jean and wet hiking boots and socks was NOT easy, but it was fun . I was totally wore out after that and slept for about 11 1/2 hours that night.

The cache page said the water was only ankle deep. They lied. It came up to my crotch and was COLD! At one point the current got pretty strong, too, but we both managed to cross without falling.

Next, we hiked down the trail to get to an area to cross the Clarion River to get to an island called Hemlock Island. Some funkly mushrooms and fungus along the way!

In the orning we headed out to find a couple caches. The first one being at Seneca Point, a beautiful area of huge boulders with pine trees growing out of them...the area was shrouded in fog and there were no people around. It was so cool...

Camping in Cook Forest State Park. There was a Hemlock forest right behind us that was a bit creepy...kind of Blair Witchy....

We past a bison farm (ranch?) that sold bison burgers. Decided to stop and try one. It was good! And from what the sign says, it must be healthy, too!

My main reason for going to PA....

The view from Beartown Rocks. On the trail to find the cache, we saw wild strawberries, bluberries and bear berries. Made me a little nervous thinking of bears wandering around stocking up for the winter.

There are so many pretty wild flowers up there. Queen Anne's Lace, all kinds of daisies...colors everywhere!

Found a cache at this old covered bridge...

Last weekend, I went back to Pittsburgh for the weekend. We went to Raccoon Creek State Park and saw these incredibly huge ant hills!

I love the old buildings and rivers and creeks there. It's all so beautiful!
Lois had made a super picnic lunch for us, including some really good, sweet corn that we roasted on the grill.
I went to Pennsylvania in August. Lois, George and I went caching at McConnell's Mill State Park. A beautiful area...we climbed all over the rocks and couldn't find the cache, though.
