You can take the GRITS out of Florida, but you can't take Florida out of the GRITS!

Cypress Gardens

A couple weekends ago, we went to Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven. We all had a GREAT time. I highly recommend this place if you have kids. They had LOTS of rides and rollercoasters and an awesome water park. They also have the gardens that they are famous for, but we didn't really have time this trip to check them out. Next time, for sure.

Where do we go first?

How about go up in the ladder truck to put the fire out?

Or fly around in pseudo Fokker DR1 triplane?

The beautiful two-story carousel was very pretty, but the Squirt declared it was 'boring". Geesh!
Sam and his group of charges decided they had to do this thing THREE TIMES IN A ROW! OMG, I couldn't even do it ONCE! The damn thing goes up and then just DROPS!

Some ornamental topiaries on the way out...

Beautiful scenery, but man, it was SO hot! The heat killed any desire to walk around and check anything out.

Though completely fake, I think this waterfall is really pretty.

Payphone booths are a thing of the past. Now we have air conditioned ATM booths!

I had to take a picture of this guy. It made me laugh because we have them running all over the place where I work! If they want anymore, I can tell them where to get them...for FREE!

I bet they do look familiar to you!

For anyone who reads these comments, we went to Cypress Grdens with "Olive" and her husband, and "Penny" aka Iamwhoiam. We had a great time!

It looks like ya'll had fun - even with the heat. I love the pic of your little guy looking at the map - he looks so serious LOL

Thanks for the link for the new layout. Unfortunately her site says you need to use Firefox instead of Explorer for them to work and for some reason Firefox screws up when we make our virtual tours so I have to stick with Explorer. Hubby says he can make me a template (and he easily could) but my stuff always comes after his paying clients so it never gets done. The cobbler's son has no shoes you know LOL

I haven't been there since I was a little kid! Sounds like it's time to revisit... when the weather cools down sometime in uh, December? ;)

WoW! Would you believe I've never been?! Maybe when it cools off. This heat was bad enough when I was young and could take it. This past year, I've been finding out why they say old folks should be more careful about it.

I love the bunny! Wonder how much it'd cost to build a waterfall like that in the back yard. Hmmmm.....
