Um...they just put two of these signs up on the road near my house. I think someone should tell them that manatees will never, ever be found crossing this street.
There *may* be some in the canal there, but in all my life, I have never seen one in it.
I wonder how many tax dollars went into the making and erection of those signs? And why alert people to the slim chance they may be driving past a manatee? There are no parking areas anywhere near there...what's the point? Hmmm.....
UPDATE: On the 8am news this morning (July 4th) they had a story on these mysterious signs, poking fun at whoever put them there. To make it short, the DOT is blaming the contractor who put them up, and they will be coming down soon. Glad to see I wasn't the only one scratching her head at the purpose of those signs!

That does seem like a little bit of a waste of dollars. Now you need to find a manatee. :)

I'm assuming those signs were made for the waterways and not the road .... someone made a royal goof-up by installing them on the street! Doh!!!
