You can take the GRITS out of Florida, but you can't take Florida out of the GRITS!

Fun Monday~ Putting my best foot forward!

This week's Fun Monday task was thought up by Pensieve...

After giving you a say for next week's theme, and in spite of the need for a tie-breaker, here are your "official" marching orders for the upcoming Fun Monday:
Shoes tell a lot about a person and we wanna delve deeply into your soul sole. Photograph your favorite pair--or pairs--of shoes and tell us a little about why they're near and dear to your toes heart (I can't wait to see how
Swampy ties this in to Breast Cancer Awareness!). Follow in Jenny's footsteps and make a foot-family portrait...show us your baby bronzed booties...let us see the shoes YOU HAD TO HAVE (but have never worn)...or all those grotesquely dyed-to-match formerly white satin bridemaid's shoes that were worn ONCE...the reinforced steel-toe boots that saved your big toe from being hacked off in that industrial "accident"...or, just take pictures of your nekkid feet--gnarly bunions, twin toes, or perfectly OPI-pedicured tootsies.

So, into my closet I went... I really don't have a "favorite" pair of shoes, but these I have somehow managed to keep since junior high. Not to date myself, but to put it into perspective, that would be 1978. My hub even had one pair re-soled for me, eventhough I don't wear them anymore.

These babies came from a place in Coconut Grove that dealt only in clogs. The place is long gone now, replaced by a Cozzolis or something.

In the 70's these were THE shoes to wear! So sexy and sophisitcated, ain't they?!?

and they're coming back! My daughter just bought her first pair and can't hardly stand herself. And what a good husband...

They look pretty dang comfy to me.

They kind of made a come back a few years ago, but that didn't last. Maybe they'll stick around this time!

And, yeah, Nikki...for having solid wood bottoms on 'em, they are pretty damn comfy!

I had some in high school too - we are the same vintage, you and I - and I loved them! I wish I'd never gotten rid of them. Of course, they probably wouldn't fit now. NOTHING from high school does...

I have a couple of pairs of modern clogs that I bought about six years ago but I only wear them occasionally.

I agree with the others. They are so out, they are retro in. You'll start the craze all over again. I like em.

I think my fashion sense got lost somewhere, because those shoes look just great to me. Are they out of style? ha ha ha ha ha I wouldn't know.

I owned some clogs back in the 70s and really liked them. Today I prefer to have rubber soles to wooden soles and this is why I wear mules.

Thanks for the clan shout out. The picture of the MacLeod ancestral castle is on the right side in my picture pile.

I like those clogs! Maybe because they are from the 70's and not mass produced...almost a one of a kind. I used to have knock off Birkenstock clog. I loved them!

I remember wearing clogs but they sure don't look like they'd be comfy so they?

Ha ha ha ha! Sorry, I'm not laughing at you. Seeing those shoes reminded me of my disco days, when I had a pair just like them. How embarassing!

Those shoes do have a certain charm. You say that you have had them since 1978? Wow

Just came back from getting some Crocs! Not the color I wanted, but they didn't have a big choice - black. They did have some cute maryjane Crocs that I almost got, but...nah, had to get the originals.

I just realized the "65" in your name is probably your birth year (and if so, I'm older than you! ;)).

I would've thought you could buy those shoes TODAY...what goes around, definitely comes around.

Can anyone say "hip huggers" (oh, that's right, they're LOW RISE today) :).

I'm trying to remember what in the world I've had for 30 years....

Ohhhh I love clogs!!! Those are pretty too.

I loved the clogs with the leather lacing on them. I had some that I swore I would never throw away. I wonder what happened to those. They're probably still around somewhere, because I am so the kind of person that would keep something around for thirty years.

Clogs rock. Not as much as crocs, of course, but who can measure up to crocs?

I hope you check those things for spiders before putting your feet in them!

Clogs are everywhere again - but restyled a bit. Very cool!
