Our assignment from her is this:
Music plays a vital role in most of our lives. It is everywhere. I want to hear the ONE song that is you. The song that whenever it is heard, you smile. I am not looking for the soundtrack of your life, just that one song. Your friends hear it and think of you. You can post the video, the lyrics, the wav file. However you want to post it is great.
Well, this was probably the easiest Fun Monday for me yet. "My" song would have to be "Owner of a Lonely Heart" by Yes. Not for the lyrics, or anything like that. Simply because I was a huge Yes fan. I saw them in concert 3 times, went backstage 3 times, hung out with them preconcert and post concert. My brother-in-law was their pilot on tour and he and my sister flew me up to New York just to see them in concert. It was the greatest! We didn't even have seats, we literally stood dead-center at the front of the stage. Trevor Rabin, vocalist and lead guitarist played the solo of Owner of a Lonely Heart to me. It was like I was dreaming...
I'm sure I drove all my friends back then crazy with their music. To this day, I'll have an old friend call me out of the blue saying, "You won't guess what I heard on the radio today? I HAD to call you!"....etc... etc.
Tony Kaye (keyboards) Alan White (drums) Trevor Rabin (vocals and guitar) ~above pictures taken by my brother-in-law
I can't find the one picture I have of me and Trevor together or my sister and lead singer Jon Anderson together...I must have put them someplace so special that I forgot where it is! Grrr!!! (I'll post if I ever find them.)
I'll never forget backstage at the Meadowlands...Ben Orr of The Cars was there and one of the original MTV Veejays, Alan Hunter. Trevor came up to me and asked me what I wanted to drink. I think I was in shock that HE was going to get ME a drink! I don't remember telling him Brandy, but that's what I got and I still have the cup to prove it! That was one of...if not THE best time I ever had anywhere!
For those of you who don't know the song. here is the video for you! (so shoot me because I'm too dumb to figure out how to have the actual video itself on here...just click the link, ok?)
Typical 80's!
So that's what I think my song is.
I can't wait to read what everyone else has chosen and why! This was a definitely a Fun Monday!

Oh my God! I love Yes too! I went to only one of their concerts back in 1974. My boyfriend (now husband) took me to all the concerts I have ever been to. You got to meet them! How absolutely cool!
I know this song. I think that we own a 45 vinyl record. I like your personalized Fun Monday sticker...very nice.
Wow. That is a great reason for picking a song. What an amazing story!
The Ticketron ticket was my nostalgic flashback moment today - back before the Ticketmaster extortion monopoly.
But my flashback song has to be Paradise by the Dashboard Lights, for many reasons...
great choice of a band!! My husband saw them play at my high school years ago!!
just say yes to yes!

I call my kids Thing 1 and Thing 2 because we read Cat in the Hat way too many times when they were little. *LOL* Great minds think alike. :)
